The 9.7-Inch iPad (6th Gen) — launched in “Early 2018” — is significant largely for being the first non-Pro iPad series to support the Apple Pencil. It is marketed with a greater emphasis on the education sector but is also available to the general public. In essence, it combines many of the internals from the iPhone 7 in a form that is quite similar to the iPad (5th Gen) that it replaces.
